Now Welcoming New Patients!

"Medicine is so special because it gives you the chance to connect with people on a very personal level. I believe that you cannot take the best care of people until you know more about them – the social context, their family situation, their employment. Learning all of this and connecting with my patients on that personal level are most valuable to me."

N. Raleigh:

A non-invasive cardiologist, Dr. Charles A. Mangano, Jr., helped establish the former Raleigh Cardiology practice at WakeMed in 1979. He is board certified in internal medicine cardiology and, in 2010, became a registered physician in vascular ultrasound interpretation. His has expertise in general cardiology, echocardiography, exercise testing, peripheral vascular diagnostic testing and treatment, and cardiovascular disease prevention.

Dr. Mangano originally chose to practice cardiology because it allowed him to help people “get back on their feet” quickly and efficiently. He enjoys the instant gratification of helping his heart patients feel better right away as well as the variety of tests and treatment options available within the specialty. Patients of Dr. Mangano will find that he makes it a top priority to match their treatment plan with their personal needs so they can get the most out of their life again, despite heart disease.

Because he is a founding partner of Raleigh Cardiology at WakeMed, Dr. Mangano feels great personal satisfaction in seeing the practice grow, develop and continue a culture of excellence in patient care.

“At WakeMed, we have a long-standing tradition of taking care of heart patients in Wake County,” he said. “We are committed to technical and professional excellence, with the goal of delivering the best service and the best medical care to our patients.”

Outside of medicine, Dr. Mangano loves being outside – playing golf, kayaking, hiking and biking. He owns a farm in Virginia where he enjoys riding his tractor and making apple cider. This multi-talented cardiologist also plays guitar and piano in his spare time.
